Fish in our Pond

Try to name our fish

We have seven fish in our pond.We have 3 gold koi a black and white koi.We have a all white koi with a red spot on top of his head and they have a big place to live at.We named the small fish Baby shark because he is so small but sometimes toads be on top of the pond on the lilypad. We rebuilt our pond last christmas.

Our first pond was built about 10 years ago because our students wanted a pond as part of their Outdoor Classroom. Dr Cynthia Smith and Ms. Kent wrote a grant to get enough money to build it. Students designed it and their families help build it. But when Oakdale underwent renovations two years ago the pond was built over.

When we got back into our new school, Ms Kent started planning to have our pond rebuilt, but this time it would be outside the library. Around Christmas 2019 lots of folks came out to help Oakdale rebuilt their pond. Our Watch D.O.G.S. were a big help and so were our firefighters.

This school year, Ms Kent was able to get new fish for our pond. TCTA donated our seven koi. Alabama Department of Fisheries brought us some native Alabama fish like bass and sunfish.
